In 2014 there was a growing realization that tools for recognizing acute psychological deterioration were often not fit for purpose. The need for improved practice skills was also identified. The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare (ACSQH) took the lead on remedying this situation.
After conducting comprehensive research and consultations with a wide range of stakeholders, Craze Lateral Solutions presented a series of practical steps for improving the recognition and response to acute psychological deterioration.

Examples included identification of key adverse events and markers of deterioration and the development of nationally agreed pathways and protocols.
